Programme evaluation is an increasingly important part of state funding. There is the opportunity to engage a range of research tools to examine the efficiency and effectiveness of state-funded programmes. Network Research has been fortunate to have undertaken a range of exciting evaluations.

Ako Aotearoa Regional Hub Project Fund 2010

The Regional Hub Project Fund provides grants of $10,000 to carry out organisation-based research into teaching and learning. Benefits of the fund were found to be the ability to get new researchers started on research, to undertake a. The evaluation report can be found here.

The Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students 2006

This was undertaken in partnership with the Christchurch College of Education in 2006. Once again, a multi-method qualitative study was employed. While finding that the COP was very effective, a number of recommendations were made to improve its scope and effectiveness.

The Bright Futures Scholarships 2004

This consultative study examined what work the various scholarship schemes under the ‘bright futures’ banner do. It found that TAD scholarships enhanced opportunities for top students. More work was needed to enhance the effectiveness of other scholarships offered under this banner.

Evaluation of NZ's Health Camps 2003

Our first evaluation, this multi-faceted qualitative analysis demonstrated that health camps were coping reasonably effectively with an increasingly complex set of youth needs. The evaluation found that education and camp systems could work more effectively together than they do at present.
